The founder of Broadway Express, Shannon Guse, has been a music educator and performing arts administrator for over 25 years and has worked with thousands of children from diverse backgrounds throughout New York City and around the United States. Shannon entered the field of music education where she earned an undergraduate degree from the College Conservatory of Music (CCM) and a graduate degree from Columbia University (TC) in Education Leadership. In addition to her extensive background in education, she has also worked in various capacities of the entertainment industry (talent scout, talent manager, mother agent, audition coach, etc.) helping youth get placed with top talent agencies in the areas of TV, commercial, film, modeling, dance, classical music and Broadway. Her own two children also worked frequently in the business and eventually, her son, Ignacio Rosado, would have his Broadway debut in the School of Rock in 2018 as Mason (US Lawrence). Iggy, an up-and-coming composer and musician, has accompanied his mother to help direct, choreograph, and accompany since he was ten years old. They have worked closely with Sing For Hope and Reaching For the Arts organizations directing musicals, teaching private lessons, performing, accompanying, and choreographing numbers, and helping place students in performing arts high schools and colleges. When COVID decimated the industry, Iggy and many of his talented performing artist friends were out of work and at the same time afterschool performing arts programs and opportunities were cut. Broadway Express was created to give Broadway Youth actors a place to develop their teaching and directing skills and give serious performing arts students a unique after school opportunity to learn from the best. The very first Broadway Express took place in Madison, Wisconsin and was led by Iggy and some of his colleagues fromThe School of Rock. The program became a huge hit among the students and entire school community. Since then, Broadway Express has expanded it's staff to include all Broadway Professionals (Actors, directors, guardians, choreographers, coaches, etc.), and has expanced education initiatives to reach more children throughout New York City, the US, and Internationally.
